The 36-year-old Millwood has won 162 games in his career but went 4-16 with a 5.10 ERA in his only season with Baltimore in 2010. After declaring free agency, he signed a minor-league deal with the in March, but opted out of his contract two months later and signed another minor-league deal with Boston. The Padres took two of three at home from NL West-leading Arizona over the weekend but are 2-6 in their last eight games against Colorado. They dropped two of three at Coors from June 13-15. Millwood dominated the Padres (65-88) on Sept. 2 as he scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out a season-high eight in a 3-0 victory, improving to 8-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 16 career matchups with San Diego. Padres starter (5-9, 3.27) will try to add to Colorado’s woes, but he hasn’t earned a win since Aug. 16. The rookie left-hander is 0-3 with a 5.06 ERA in his last four starts and matched a career high by giving up 10 hits in San Francisco on Tuesday. Millwood has found a new beginning in Colorado by going 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA in seven starts. He earned a 6-2 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday, allowing two runs and four hits over six innings.
